Meet Dr. Julie Spaniel

Dr. Julie Spaniel brings more than 36 years of experience in comprehensive dentistry to Portsmouth Dental Care. A former private-practice owner, she provides restorative dentistry, implant placement & restoration, endodontic treatment, & a wide range of oral surgery procedures. Dr. Spaniel is committed to delivering efficient, compassionate care while ensuring that every patient feels heard, respected, & comfortable.

Dr. Spaniel is deeply involved in organized dentistry & advocacy. She currently serves as president of the Oregon Dental Association, represents Oregon dentistry on the American Dental Association Council on Communications, & chairs the ODA’s Well-Being Initiative. She is also the immediate past president of the Oregon Academy of General Dentistry. Through these leadership roles, she advocates for Oregon dentists, stronger dental teams, improved access to care, & resources that support the personal & professional well-being of dental professionals.

Service has always been central to Dr. Spaniel’s life. In the United States, she volunteers with Medical Teams International to provide dental care to people in need. She is also the founder of One World Brigades, a nonprofit organization that brings dental & medical care to underserved communities in Kenya. Through its unique “Service & Safari” experiences, One World Brigades welcomes students, healthcare professionals, & non-clinical volunteers to serve alongside local partners while learning about Kenya’s people, culture, & wildlife.

Outside dentistry, Dr. Spaniel is the proud mother of four adult children. She enjoys spending time with her family & caring for the horses, golden retrievers, miniature donkeys, chickens, cats, & other animals on her farm.
